I can’t  believe the number of great looking websites I keep coming across that have text within images.

This prevents search engines from indexing the text – what a waste!

Just last week we had to explain this to a prospective client. They had just launched a brand new website but contacted us when they found their web designer knew nothing about search engine optimisation. And it showed! The website was built entirely around Flash. It looked great but was virtually useless for search engine purposes as all the text was contained within the Flash images.

So beware! Too many web design agencies don’t understand how to build search engine friendly websites. They get carried away with showing off their design skills without appreciating what impact it will have on search engine rankings. Yes, design is an important element, but it doesn’t make a successful website by itself.
