TIPS FOR EASY USABILITY OF A WEBSITE

At Studio2online we design websites for our clients keeping primary focus on usability. Listed below are a few of the many guidelines that our web designers follow while creating and developing great websites:

· Great copywriting – so the content of your website reflects the style of the target audience

· Use subheadings and bullet points to highlight key phrases, products or services

· Avoid smaller text font sizes or capital texts to make sure the website is easy to read

· Use simple navigation menus and user interface elements so users can find their way around easily

· Include key phrases in your navigation elements to maximise your search engine optimisation

· Use clear linking between web pages that will be useful to a visitor

· Avoid background images that distract users from the all important content of your website

· Avoid underlines; except on links so users are not confused about what is a link and what isn’t

· Understand what a user is likely to want to read on your site and make sure they can find it quickly and easily

· Make sure you share the most important information in the first 2 paragraphs of the webpage and ensure it clearly tells the reader ‘what’s in it for them’

· Remember Hansel and Gretel? Include breadcrumbs on your website, a very useful element that helps the user go back to any previous web pages visited

Finally, remember you have on average just 8 seconds to persuade a visitor to stay on your website. So keep things simple to increase the number of returning users through search engines as well as other referring sites!
