Search Engine Optimisation > Google: King of the SE’s

Posted by admin on April 23rd, 2010

For the majority of many search engine optimisation campaigns, the main goal is to rank highly on the number one search engine; Google. Here are a few pointers to help you get your site listed on the king of the search engines:

  • Google prefers not to be told about websites but find them. It is better if Google finds your website through links from outside sites, instead of being submitted straight to Google.
  • Google likes links on sites that it already knows about. A good technique to get listed in Google is to have a link to your site from a site that is already listed in Google, for example a press release on PRWeb.
  • One page indexed on Google is a gateway for the rest of your site. Make sure that the page indexed contains links to the rest of your site so that they can be indexed to.
  • A link from a high PageRank site should equal quicker ranking. Google will probably crawl your site quicker, and therefore index it quicker, if it finds a link to your site from a page that it ranks highly.

There are many different factors involved with ranking well in Google, and that’s without even mentioning its constantly changing search algorithms. If you want to make sure your site is performing as well as it should, contact our search engine optimisers to discuss the benefits a search engine optimisation campaign could have for your business.
