Personalized search – Bad for SEO

Posted by harpreet.seehra on December 22nd, 2009

In the past,  Google has used personalized search results for users that browse whilst they’re signed into their Google account.  The use of this “personalized search” has now been extended to users that are not signed in. This is very bad for SEO.

Users can disable this setting by clicking on “Web History” but most users will probably not even realize what is happening. This is very bad for SEO.

Although Google may see this as offering the user a better experience, they could possibly be denying them the chance of viewing the best results for the term they are searching.
