Happy Wednesday

HAPPY WEDNESDAY

Are you doing something funny for money this Friday?  Some of my colleagues might suggest that that’s what I do when I come to work every day (I know who you are).  But I’m talking about charidee.  You know, Comic Relief.  Red Nose Day.

You can’t possibly have escaped the publicity or the appeals that you, yes YOU, do something funny for money this year.

Maybe you’re doing something funny as a company.  Maybe you’ll put photographs on your website after the event to let everyone know what nice people you are – and how silly you can look.   Perhaps you’ll even ask for donations from clients or customers you see on the day.

But what about using your website to promote your charity activity before your event?  And what about taking donations online?  So more people can support your efforts and perhaps commit to a little more than loose change.

You don’t need an ecommerce website to do this.  All of our websites have a donations option to allow you to take secure credit card payments.

This could be a great option if your company supports a particular charity.  You could encourage visitors to your site to make donations, throughout the year, and perhaps offer fundraising updates in your news module or blog.  This would serve to raise, often much-needed, awareness for your charity, as well as providing, always much-needed, financial support.

If you don’t have a preferred charity, you could do worse than arrange company social activities around the major annual charity fundraising events: Race for Life, Children In Need, Flora London Marathon, Pink Ribbon Ball and let customers know that, if they aren’t contributing in any other way, they could support your efforts with an online donation on your website.

Contact us if you’re interested in adding the facility to take seure credit card donations on your website.

Of course all of this altruistic activity isn’t just good for the recipients of your donations and for impressing your customers.  It’s good for your staff too.  Just ask the Sunday Times why it includes charity as one of the ten measures of its 100 Best Companies to work for survey.

And apparently, if you’re feeling miserable, volunteering is the new therapy.  Instead of wallowing in despair at the state of your bank balance/relationship/thighs, getting off your bottom to do something for someone less fortunate (and there’s always someone less fortunate) will put a smile on your face, as well as theirs.

So whether it’s Wednesday, Friday or any other day, you can feel good by doing good, promote your good deeds and collect donations on your website, give your staff a morale boost and make the world a better place.  So what are you waiting for?

Keep smiling.
