Happy Birthday YouTube!

YouTube is 6 years old which is a surprise to many as the popular video sharing website seems to have been around forever!
The Beta website launched back in May 2005, and by the end of that year it had drawn 8 million video views per day. If you think that is impressive though, just 5 years later in May 2010, the website was achieving a phenomenal 2 billion views a day!
And a year later, on May 25th, Google announced that the daily figures have now grown past 3 billion views per day!
YouTube content is user generated, with everything from the most adorable cat videos (check out this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vw4KVoEVcr0 < too cute!) to Science (I particularly like this one and they even use the Google colours for the experiment http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hr6dZ6aWpF4).
Google reports that 48 hours worth of videos are uploaded to the website every minute, a 100% increase in just 1 year!
YouTube have created something amazing in a very short period of time and it just goes to show how important traffic and user input are to any website.
We look forward to seeing what the next 6 years bring! Long live YouTube!
