A Google a Day, means learning in a new way…

Posted by dani cass on April 13th, 2011

Google have teamed up with The New York Times to create a daily trivia quiz which asks questions similar to those used for crossword puzzles, but the questions are worded in such a way that the answers cannot be found by simply putting the question in to Google.

If you need a little help to crack the puzzle though, Google not only encourages you to search for the answer with their search facility but they have also introduced Deja Google, described by Google as ‘a wormhole inspired time machine that enables you to solve todays puzzle spoiler free by searching the internet as it existed before A Google a day launched’.

Because the questions have been ‘Google proofed’, you need to think outside the box and be creative with your search terms to discover the answer. A Google a Day includes the answer on the website so you can check if you’re right, they also include tips for searching just in case the answer eludes you.

Google believe this puzzle will allow users to ask all kinds of questions they wouldn’t have thought to ask while discovering all kinds of new information. I believe it will also help users in their day to day internet use, entering a wider range of search queries to find those products or services that aren’t so easy to find, and give a broader range of keywords for website owners and search engine specialists to promote.
